paid lunch?

The dentist that I am going to work for when my license finally arrives is paying me a specific wage per day, not per hour so I thought that was something that other offices did but I must be wrong!!! So I was way off on the paid lunch thing I guess!!! But that would be really awesome!!!

I went on to the DOPL website and it is pretty cool because you can look up licensees by name and see if they have their license yet. I looked up my name and sure enough it was on there but of course it is no good unless it is in my hand!! But I wonder who has there license already and who has already started working!!! That would be really interesting to know, so I might just look up everyones name!!!

Just a side note: It is freakin hot outside!! But yet I am no where near tan!! I better get on it!!

What are some dentists thinking?

Sometimes I wonder what some dentists are thinking when they start a practice. Do they really plan to screw people out of there money? Do they really plan to have a gross practice? Do they plan to not sterilize things that should be? Do they plan to schedule like a billion people all at the same time and think they get to them all? Do they really think that they can pay so little and give so few benefits and still have employees? Are we that desperate that we will take jobs where the dentist is like this?

I had another working interview and this office was so disquisting!! They don't sterilize there air/water syringe tips , they just wipe them off!! They dentist told me not to premedicate me patient who had a heart murmur. The office staff and assistants touched the charts with contaminated gloves. They had no schedule at all and people in the waiting room started to leave because they had been waiting so long.

I just heard that there are even some dentists who are so cheap that they only pay their hygienists when they are actually scaling. If you are there at 7:30 to be prepared for your patient at 8:00, that is prep time and is not payed for, if you take a lunch it is not payed for, at the end of the day when you are cleaning up and writing in charts, it is clean up time and is not paid for. How prickly can some dentists be!!!

I hope I am not the only person having super psycho working interviews but maybe I am just attracted to the psychos!!!

FRUSTRATION!!!

I am getting so frustrated with DOPL. First they say that I can pay an extra $75.00 to get my license processed with in 3-5 days. Now I just called and they said that they have stopped doing that because they are already behind three weeks on those who have already turned in their applications. So even if I paid the extra money it would still take 30-50 days which is four to six weeks to get my licnese. WHATEVER!!! It should not be this hard to get my license. How is anyone going to get a job if they can't get their license? I don't know!! For those who are graduating this year, get your license as soon as possible even if you don't have a job. You will be able to get a job easier and you won't have all the frustrations of dealing with DOPL!!!

ethical dilemma

So I got hired by this dentist and this morning he calls me up and asks me to come in for another working interview, so I think that my job is somehow in question. He explains to me that the other hygienist called in sick and that he was looking for someone to come and fill in for her because their hygiene schedule was way full. So he was really asking me to cover for someone else but just calling it a "working interview." I didn't have a car available so I couldn't go but what if I could have gone, I don't know what I would have done. Because it seems to me like that would be working with out my license and that would get me and the office into big trouble if that were discovered. Maybe I am just overreacting about the whole thing but it did get me thinking!!! Kind of like ya know that one ethics class we had!!!

Would it have been ok for me to work? I do not have the answer!! I really want to but then I start to think about all those people that I saw who had to go before the board and have suspended licenses and things like that and it freaks me out a little bit!!

Another thing that came to my mind after this phone call was what would I say to this dentist if I had been able to go? Should I have just called him on it and say NO WAY, ITS ILLEGAL, or would I have tried to beat around the bush and come up with some other excuse, or could I have just said that I felt uncomfortable and hope that he was understanding?
But, who knows because I didn't have to have that conversation!!! But in the future what would I do? I don't know!!

Ok, on a lighter note, I watched the Davinci Code last night and I am not sure how I feel about it? I don't think I quite understood all that was going on. And I could hardly understand that girl that was one of the main characters. I had to keep leaning over to my husband and say "What did she say." Which I bet got really annoying after like the billionth time!!
And also, were we suppose to understand all the people speaking french or italian or latin or whatever they were speaking? That was really weird. And another thing, I think that the plot went too fast for me. Because like one minute they are talking about one thing and then like the next second its on to something else!! So I kept saying " whats going on" like every two seconds!!! Anyway!! I thought it was a great fictional murder mystery and don't know why there is so much controversy over it!!! I mean people should really be protesting over more important things like UCDH!!! Ha Ha Ha

My first Job

Yeah
I finally have a job!! I will be working two days a week, which is pretty nice but of course I will be looking for something else to fill up my week!! He seems like a pretty good dentist. But I am sure that I can add a lot of good improvements to the office!! They kind of have this freaky basement where they keep all their extra supplies, so that is one thing that I will have to get use too. Because it is one of those scary basements that are always in scary movies where people get murdered, so I hope I don't have to go down there very often!!!

My second working interview must have been really positive, or I must have a fabulous person helping me and telling the dentist positive things about me!! But whatever it was, it worked!!

So until I get my license, I guess I will just watch movies!! Speaking of movies, I totally loved x-men 3, and Mission impossible 3, They were so awesome!! I could see them like ten more times and not get bored. So if any one has not seen them you have to go!!! But make sure you have like popcorn or licorice because they are pretty intense and if you have my same habit of biting my fingernails, you might not have any left after the end of the movie!!! That is how intense they are!! Or if you usually have to use the restroom in the middle of most movies, you might want to just hold it in until the end, that is how good it is!!!

During this break I have become quite the cook, which my husband loves. Just yesterday I made "better than" cake. I have heard a lot of different names for it like "better than sex cake" or "better than anything cake" so I will just call it "better than" cake!! But it is so good!!! So if anyone wants a super fattening, rich, addicting cake, you should make it!!
Also, I have decided that I really like Rachel Ray. She has a show on the food network on cable called thirty minute meals and I watch it all the time, ususally when I am exercising which is probably, not doing me any good because then I am just starving after I am done working out!! But she is awesome and I love everything that she makes, I try to be just like her, but of course my dinners always end up watered down or burned or weird looking. But it is definitely the effort that counts!!! The only down side of cooking is that then you have to clean up a huge mess in the kitchen because of course I have to use like every dish I have!!

I will keep everyone updated on all my newly aquired hobbies, which will probably end as soon as I start working but until then I am just here to have fun!!
